Since our inception, VQS has been a leader in sustaining environmental practices. Using soy based inks and post-consumer paper products, along with donating money to alternative energy programs, VQS has been helping lead the way to a greener, cleaner future.

At VQS we take pride in our relentless efforts addressing environmental issues. We have been recycling our papers, inks and metal since 1991.  VQS Enterprises utilizes an environmentally friendly printing alternative as we are exclusively OPEN web. Heat set, or CLOSED web printers require drying agents that flash high concentrations of volatile organic compounds or VOC’s when drying. VQS utilizes low VOC cleaning compounds for our presses, keeping our plant level to below a third of the state mandated allowance. In addition we use recycled paper (including 100%), soy based inks, and have a plant wide recycling program that includes waste paper, ink, and plates, so nothing enters the waste stream.

In the office there are a number of ways we have been proactive in sustaining the environment.  Here are a few of the programs we’ve initiated and you can also!

• Set your printers and copiers to print two-sided.
• Place a recyclable box next to each desk that should contain all paper waste.
• Set up a couple of containers around the office for plastics.
• Set all thermostats at one temperature, and then lock with a password.
• Turn off all lights when you’re leaving an area.
• Turn all equipment into a standby mode when they are not in use.
• Don’t print all of your emails, save them in a folder or copy others on the content.

VQS is currently in the process of becoming a SGP printer (Sustainable Green Printer) through the SGP Partnership organization.  The mission of SGP is to encourage and promote in the worldwide movement to reduce environmental impact and increase social  responsibility of the print and graphic communications industry through sustainable green printing practices.
